Center for Disease Control and Prevention/Retail Pharmacy Vaccine program for long-term care facilities & other community based programs

As of Sunday, we had over 1900 facilities/agencies register for the CDC/Retail Pharmacy program. CDC has agreed to one more enrollment for facilities and we can take registration until Friday, November 20 at 3p.m.  Although the number of Adult Family Homes registered increased, given the number of locations an opportunity for additional outreach may happen.  Details about the program follow:

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) created the program, which is a partnership with CVS and Walgreens. Both pharmacies will offer on-site COVID-19 vaccines to residents of nursing homes, assisted living facilities, and other community-based, congregate living settings where most individuals over 65 years of age are receiving care, supervision, or assistance.

If your facility/agency provides care as noted above, we like encourage registering for this program to ensure the vaccine can be provided to individuals who may be at the highest risk for COVID.  Register no later than Friday, November 20 at 3 p.m. at:  www.surveymonkey.com/r/MXBYB7R.

Things to know:

  • When registering, select “other” as the facility type and indicate the facility type that most closely matches you. Type in facility or agency type such as Adult Family Home, Supported Living Agency or Enhanced Service Support agency
  • If you have more than one location, please register an address for each location or office separately
  • The program is free to the facility and with no direct cost for the resident
  • The pharmacy will work directly with the facility to coordinate onsite vaccinations for interested residents
  • The pharmacy will return twice to give second doses of the vaccine
  • Even if registered for this program, only interested residents will be immunized
