COVID-19 Pandemic response updates

Suspensions and Emergency Rule Filings: Deadline December 7, 2020

Per Governor Inslee’s COVID-19 Proclamation 20-05, RCW/WACs remain suspended. This means that 40-hour DDA CORE/BASIC, 30 hours of Populations Specific training and 12 hours Continuing Education Training remain suspended.

Trainings still required: Nurse Delegation, CPR and 5 hours DDA Orientation and Safety Trainings

DSHS is ready to file an emergency rule and will reset the date of hire and training timelines when RCW/WACs are reinstated.

Click here for more information on Proclamation 20-05.

Virtualized curriculum and training recommendations

DDA recommends continuing virtual trainings. DDA-developed curriculum is now available. The content is updated to adapt to a virtual classroom.

As you develop your virtual training plan, please consider adult learning theory. Processing and retaining virtual content takes more focus than in-person trainings. Adults also need to adapt to engaging in a virtual environment, which is a new skill for many.

Please consider breaking day-long trainings into modules and offering asymmetrical learning opportunities.
