October is National Disability Employment Awareness Month (NDEAM) and 2020 marks 75 years of the United States recognizing workers with disabilities.

NDEAM is a time to celebrate the importance of a diverse workforce and the value individuals with disabilities bring to the workplace.

Washington state continues to be a national leader in supporting individuals with intellectual and development disabilities (IDD) to pursue competitive employment opportunities. Recently, Clark County held an event celebrating NDEAM in their community. See videos from the event honoring individuals with IDD working in essential positions, Clark County Essential Workers and Danny at the Heathman Lodge. To learn more about national events celebrating NDEAM and what you can do to promote hiring individuals with disabilities, check out the Department of Labor’s website.

The Lewis County Board of Commissioners recognizes October as Disability Employment Awareness Month and the Lewis County Autism Coalition will hold the 2nd Annual Cultivating Inclusion Celebration, highlighting individuals who promoted inclusion in school, work and community.
