Developmental Disabilities Administration Update

February 25, 2019

Washington leads the nation when it comes to supporting people with intellectual and developmental disabilities to get and retain competitive jobs. Year round, the state continues to work to improve employment outcomes.

In October 2018, 150 stakeholders (including employment providers, state employees, families and self-advocates) met for two days at the Alderbrook Resort in Mason County. The goal was to strategize how to improve employment outcomes for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

The following report summarizes past efforts for improving employment outcomes plus future strategies. The report is authored by David Michael Mank, Ph.D., Professor Emeritus of the Indiana Institute on Disability and Community at Indiana University.
