Welcome to latest edition of the I-405/SR 167 Program newsletter, where we provide regular updates about impactful construction along the corridor.
People traveling northbound throughout the Puget Sound region should expect delays this weekend, Oct. 16-19, as all lanes of northbound I-405 in Bellevue will close as a part of the I-405/Renton to Bellevue Widening and Express Toll Lanes Project.

Northbound I-405 closure in Bellevue, Oct. 16-19
All lanes of northbound I-405 will close from Southeast Eighth Street to Northeast Fourth Street from 11 p.m. Friday, Oct. 16, to 4 a.m. Monday, Oct. 19.
Signed detour routes will be in place. Crews will pave, install concrete panels and set an overhead sign structure during the closure as part of the I-405/Renton to Bellevue Widening and Express Toll Lanes Project.
The following northbound ramps will also close:
- Southeast Eighth Street on-ramp to northbound I-405
- Northbound I-405 off-ramp to Northeast Fourth Street/Northeast Eighth Street (Exit 13 A/B)

Additionally, northbound I-5 in Seattle is reduced to two lanes across the Ship Canal Bridge until the end of 2026 as part of the Revive I-5 Ship Canal Bridge Preservation project. The express lanes will remain open northbound-only 24 hours a day.
People traveling northbound throughout the Puget Sound region should expect heavier traffic and longer travel times through Bellevue and Seattle, as drivers shift their routes during the closure.
I-405/Northeast 132nd Street interchange closure in Kirkland, Oct. 19-23
The northbound and southbound I-405 on- and off-ramps at Northeast 132nd Street in Kirkland will close nightly from 9 p.m. Monday, Oct. 19, to 5 a.m. Friday, Oct. 23. Northeast 132nd Street under I-405 will also close. Signed detours will be in place.
Crews working for the City of Kirkland will install speed cushions and adjust signage on Northeast 132nd Street.
Westbound SR 522 to northbound I-405 ramp shift in Bothell, Oct. 16-17
Crews will close the SR 522 on-ramps to northbound I-405 starting at 11 p.m. Friday, Oct. 16 to 5 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 17. When the westbound SR 522 ramp to northbound I-405 reopens, traffic will be shifted east of the I-405/SR 522 interchange. This shift will open space to continue widening I-405 through the interchange as part of the I-405/Brickyard to SR 527 Improvement Project. A signed detour will be in place.

This schedule is subject to change due to the nature of construction. Weather, traffic conditions, equipment availability, and other factors can affect scheduled work.
In addition to these impactful closures, expect nighttime lane and ramp closures and ongoing construction along the I-405 corridor. Check the real-time travel map for alerts.
Recent accomplishments
Work continues along I-405 in Bothell
Last weekend, during a full closure of southbound I-405 from SR 527 to SR 522, crews installed three drainage crossings, replaced three expansion joints, performed 40 bridge repairs, reconstructed pavement and repaved sections of southbound I-405, placing 3750 tons of asphalt, as part of the I-405/Brickyard to SR 527 Improvement Project.
