In this update:
Heads up! Several nightly SR 520 ramp closures continue this month. Closures start at 10 p.m. each night and ramps will reopen by 6 a.m. the next morning. The schedule may change as work progresses. Check our Construction Corner for the latest updates.
Eastbound SR 520 off-ramp to Montlake Boulevard closed nightly Oct. 10 and 12-15

- Monday, Oct. 12, through Thursday, Oct. 15
Travelers heading east on SR 520 will not be able to exit at Montlake Boulevard. Drivers entering eastbound SR 520 from I-5 will continue across Lake Washington and pay the SR 520 bridge toll. Travelers heading to Montlake should use alternate routes.
Montlake Boulevard on-ramp to westbound SR 520 closed nightly Oct. 13 and 14
Crews will close the Montlake Boulevard on-ramp to westbound SR 520 to move equipment into the work zone.

Westbound SR 520 traffic continuing past the Montlake Boulevard and Lake Washington Boulevard exits will detour to southbound I-5. A single lane of westbound SR 520 between Montlake Boulevard and I-5 will also close.
Neighbors near the work zone will hear noise from trucks and construction equipment. If you have questions or concerns about this work, please call our 24-hour hotline at 206-319-4520, or email us at SR520bridge@wsdot.wa.gov.
Plan ahead! Crews will close both directions of Boyer Avenue East between East Roanoke Street and Everett Avenue East the nights of Monday, Oct. 12, through Thursday, Oct. 15. Crews will use these closures to move equipment into the area to prepare for bridge pier construction near the Boyer Hillside.
What to expect:
- Closures start at 10 p.m. each night. The road will reopen by 6 a.m. the following morning.
- Signed detours will be in place. Local access will be maintained between Everett Avenue East and the SR 520 bridge.
- Pedestrian access will be maintained through the closure area.
- Neighbors near the work zone may hear noise from crews and construction equipment.
- Parking will be restricted around the clock on both sides of Boyer Avenue East from East Roanoke Street to the Portage Bayshore Condominiums. Parking is allowed on Sundays.
We understand that construction can be disruptive, and we appreciate your patience as we continue working in a confined area. If you have questions or concerns about this utility work, please call our 24-hour hotline at 206-319-4520, or email us at SR520bridge@wsdot.wa.gov.
Thank you to everyone who asked for more information about our piledriving schedule. We appreciate your patience while we worked on a way to provide more advance notice.
You can now find the latest Portage Bay piledriving schedule on our Construction Corner website. We’ll update this page weekly with the planned dates and times neighbors can expect piledriving on the east and west ends of the project.
Please note that construction schedules can – and often do – change as work progresses. Bookmark this page and check back regularly for the latest updates.
