Welcome to latest edition of the I-405/SR 167 Program newsletter, where we provide regular updates about impactful construction along the corridor.
People should expect delays on southbound I-405 in Tukwila this weekend, which will affect trips to Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (SEA) and on northbound I-5. Travelers in Kirkland should prepare for closures of the I-405/Northeast 85th Street interchange this week starting Thursday night, Oct. 1 and during the weekend.

Southbound I-405 lane reductions and HOV ramp closure in Tukwila, Oct. 3-4
Up to two lanes will close on southbound I-405 in Tukwila from 7 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 3 to 1:30 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 4.
The southbound I-405 HOV off-ramp to northbound I-405 will also close.
Travelers heading to the airport should plan for longer travel times and expect congestion on southbound I-405. Crews will pave the roadway as part of the I-405/Renton to Bellevue Widening and Express Toll Lanes Project.
I-405/Northeast 85th Street interchange closure in Kirkland, Oct. 1-2 and 2-5
The northbound and southbound I-405 on- and off-ramps (Exit 18) in Kirkland will close from:
- 9 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 1 to 5 a.m. Friday, Oct. 2.
- 10 p.m. Friday, Oct. 2 to 5 a.m. Monday, Oct. 5.
Northeast 85th Street will also close between Sixth Street and 120th Avenue Northeast. Detours will be in place. Crews will lay the final pavement on Northeast 85th Street, as part of the I-405/Northeast 85th Street Interchange and Inline BRT Station Project.

Travelers are also advised of regional closures happening this week.

This schedule is subject to change due to the nature of construction. Weather, traffic conditions, equipment availability, and other factors can affect scheduled work.
In addition to these impactful closures, expect nighttime lane and ramp closures and ongoing construction along the I-405 corridor. Check the real-time travel map for alerts.
Recent accomplishments
Work moves southbound from Bellevue to Renton
Last weekend, crews installed drainage and sign structures, implemented a traffic switch and paved the roadway on southbound I-405, as part of the I-405/Renton to Bellevue Widening and Express Toll Lanes Project.
