Southbound I-405 lane reductions and ramp closure in Tukwila will cause delays to SEA, Oct. 3-4

I-405/Northeast 85th Street interchange will also close Oct.1-5

TUKWILA – Travelers should expect delays on southbound Interstate 405 in Tukwila from Saturday, Oct. 3 to Sunday, Oct. 4. Crews working for the Washington State Department of Transportation will close two lanes and the high-occupancy vehicle (HOV) ramp to northbound I-405 which will affect trips to Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (SEA).

The I-405/Northeast 85th Street interchange in Kirkland will also close overnight on Thursday, Oct.1 and through the weekend, Oct. 2-5.

Southbound I-405 lane reductions and HOV ramp closure, Oct. 3-4

Up to two lanes will close on southbound I-405 in Tukwila from 7 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 3 to 1:30 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 4. The southbound I-405 HOV off-ramp to northbound I-405 will also close.

Travelers heading to the airport should plan for longer travel times and expect congestion on southbound I-405.

Crews will pave the roadway as a part of the I-405/Renton to Bellevue Widening and Express Toll Lanes Project.

I-405/Northeast 85th Street interchange closure in Kirkland, Oct. 1-5

The northbound and southbound I-405 on- and off-ramps (Exit 18) in Kirkland will close from:

  • 9 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 1 to 5 a.m. Friday, Oct. 2.
  • 10 p.m. Friday, Oct. 2 to 5 a.m. Monday, Oct. 5.

Northeast 85th Street will also close between Sixth Street and 120th Avenue Northeast during these times.

Detours will be in place. Crews will pave Northeast 85th Street as part of the I-405/Northeast 85th Street Interchange and Inline BRT Station Project.

Travelers are also advised of regional closures on I-5 and State Route 520. “Know before you go," or, if possible, delay discretionary travel to help minimize backups.
