In this update:
Heads up! Montlake Boulevard will be reduced to one lane in each direction between East Louisa Street and East Roanoke Street as crews continue work on the Montlake Boulevard sign structure updates. See below for dates and times. Plan for increased traffic congestion in Montlake and allow extra travel time.
During these lane reductions, crews will excavate, pour concrete and prepare the site for a new mast-arm sign structure that will be installed during the August weekend closure.
Lane reduction dates and times:
- Wednesday, July 22, 8 p.m. to Thursday, July 23, 6 a.m.
- Thursday, July 23, 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
- Friday, July 24, 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
Nearby neighbors should expect some noise while crews use a vacuum truck during the overnight work Wednesday night. During the daytime lane reductions on Thursday and Friday, crews will pour concrete, regrade the paved area and clean up the work site.

Thank you for your patience during last weekend's Montlake Boulevard closure. During the closure, crews worked around the clock to remove an existing sign foundation north of SR 520 and build the foundations for the new mast-arm sign structures that will be installed during the final weekend closure in August.
The second and final weekend closure is scheduled from 10 p.m. Friday, Aug. 21, to 6 a.m. Monday, Aug. 24.
After that closure, you'll see several changes, including:
- Three new mast-arm sign structures (two northbound and one southbound)
- Removal of the large sign bridge spanning Montlake Boulevard just south of SR 520
- New signs mounted on the mast-arm structures
- A new southbound sign north of SR 520 mounted on an existing utility pole

We’ve received a lot of feedback from the community about the Boyer Hillside regrade. We understand your concerns about truck traffic and safety, and we appreciate your feedback about alternatives to consider. Our team is actively evaluating ways we can reduce truck traffic on the haul route, such as accelerating construction of the southwest work trestle connection to Boyer so we can use it for hauling. additional geotechnical analysis to make sureto the regrade approach are feasible and safe.
We will continue to keep you updated when we have more details.
