TRAVEL ADVISORY April 1, 2026
Two weeks of daytime stops for up to an hour on US 101 south of Forks starting April 13
FORKS – Daytime travelers on a portion of US 101 south of Forks will want to plan ahead.
From 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., US 101 will close multiple times approaching milepost 184 near Dowans Creek Road on the following days:
- Monday, April 13 through Wednesday, April 15.
- Monday, April 20 through Thursday, April 23.
Each closure will last up to 60 minutes.
The closures create a work zone for Washington State Department of Transportation crews to clear drains along the roadway.
Emergency services will be given priority access through the area during the work.
Plan ahead Go before or after work hours to avoid long waits. Consider postponing discretionary trips. If you travel during work hours add an extra 60 minutes to reach your destination.
About the roadway In December 2025, this section of US 101 was reduced to one lane due to a slide. Once drains are cleared, the road will return to one-way alternating traffic controlled by a signal. A project for emergency repairs to fully reopen the roadway is underway.
