In this update:
We want to let you know that some of our Montlake Project facilities were recently targeted by wire theft. Hundreds of feet of essential wiring were stolen, disrupting our signing and lighting in the area, including on the bike and pedestrian bridge. Our crews have already replaced some of the wire and we are working with Seattle City Light to restore the rest.
We're asking for your help: If you see suspicious activity in the area, please call 911 and report it to us by email or at our 24-hour hotline: 206-319-4520.
Heads up, neighbors! Crews will add Saturday shifts from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., starting March 21, to help move utility work forward on Boyer Avenue East. Crews plan to work the next two Saturdays: March 21 and 28. Please check our Construction Corner for the latest schedule and updates.
As a reminder, crews are building a trench to move overhead utilities underground. This work continues through May. Boyer Avenue East remains reduced to one lane between East Roanoke Street and Everett Avenue East.

This week, crews resumed in-water impact piledriving to install approximately 10 piles in the area between Boyer Avenue East and the work trestle on the south side of SR 520. This in-water work is expected to last about four weeks and will be completed before the end of the in-water impact piledriving window on April 30.

What to expect:
- Equipment staging and site prep at the work zone between now and the start of piledriving
- Work hours, including prep work, are from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. Piledriving will start at 8 a.m.
- Neighbors near the work zone will notice increased noise and vibration during this work
Please note that while we plan to finish in-water piledriving by April 30, we are allowed to continue both impact and vibratory piledriving on land year-round. We’ll continue to piledrive on land to eventually connect the work trestle to a haul road entrance from Boyer Avenue East. We are working to finalize our schedule for piledriving after April 30 and will share an updated schedule once we have it.
As a reminder, we monitor noise and vibration in real-time around the project area. If you experience what feels like excessive noise or vibration, please call the 24-hour hotline as soon as possible at 206-319-4520, or email us at sr520bridge@wsdot.wa.gov.
