Lane closure on eastbound SR 20 Spur for hazard tree removal, Jan. 8-9, in Anacortes
ANACORTES – Hazardous tree removal is scheduled along eastbound the State Route 20 Spur this week.
Crews working for the Washington State Department of Transportation will close the right lane of eastbound SR 20 from 8 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 8 to 3 p.m. Friday, Jan. 9, between Fidalgo Bay Road and R Avenue in Anacortes (mileposts 49-50).
Many of the trees in this area are pioneer species that are fast growing and short-lived. As they mature, they become more prone to decay and structural weakness, especially when the soil is saturated. WSDOT removes trees along its right of way that pose an imminent hazard.
People traveling in the area should expect delays.
