BELLINGHAM – Northbound I-5 will be reduced to a single lane for two days beginning Monday, Dec. 29, in Bellingham. Nighttime travelers also should expect two nights of closures of the southbound Meridian Street on-ramp to southbound I-5 beginning Monday night, Dec. 29.
Washington State Department of Transportation maintenance crews will repair damaged guardrails and signs during the lane and ramp closures.
What to expect
The daytime lane closures on northbound I-5 will include:

The left lane will close from 6 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday, Dec. 29, near the Lakeway Street exit (milepost 253).

The right lane will close from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 30, near the Fairhaven Parkway exit (milepost 251).
The southbound Merdian Street on-ramp to southbound I-5 also will close from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m. nightly Monday, Dec. 29, through Wednesday morning, Dec. 31.
People traveling through the area should expect delays during the daytime lane reductions and seek alternate routes during the nighttime ramp closures. Drivers also should slow down and watch for workers.
