What you'll find in this issue:
- New guidance and training on quick-build projects for active transportation
- Reminder to propose sessions for the next Bike Walk Roll Summit (April 2026)
- Other events and trainings to keep on your radar
Welcome to another special edition of the Wall and Roll Newsletter. This may be habit-forming, but we couldn't wait to tell you about these things that are now or soon!
Upcoming training: Trialing active transportation solutions with quick-build projects
Would you like to use quick-build projects to pilot active transportation improvements and engage your community? Our Active Transportation Division published a guide to developing different types of quick-build projects, which can typically be designed and installed on a shorter timeline than long-term roadway reconstruction projects. Several of our grant programs can support these projects, including the Sandy Williams Connecting Communities Program, Safe Routes to School Program and Pedestrian and Bicyclist Program.
We're hosting a webinar to walk you through this resource. On Nov. 5, 2025, at 1 p.m. PST, supported by Toole Design, we'll share examples of how communities have used quick-build projects to foster support for infrastructure enhancements that make walking and bicycling easier and safer. They also use them to get solutions on the ground more quickly!

Share with your peers at the 2026 Bike Walk Roll Summit
Many of us share hopes for what transportation in Washington state could be like in the future. But how do we make those multimodal visions reality?
That's the question at the center of the next Bike Walk Roll Summit, the largest annual gathering of people working on, advocating for and using active transportation in Washington state. Themed 'Designing the Future We Want,' the Summit will be held in-person from Apr. 1-3, 2025, in Wenatchee, WA. Organizer Cascade Bicycle Club is inviting proposals for presentations, panels, workshops and other learning forums that tackle this theme in innovative, action-oriented ways.
If you have a project, tool, idea or perspective that could help others improve safety and mobility for people walking, biking and rolling, consider submitting a proposal. But don't wait: Applications are due today, Oct. 31, 2025.
