Daytime southbound I-5 lane reduction for paving project planned Wednesday, Oct. 15, in Ferndale

Custer rest area to close at same time while traffic sensors installed

FERNDALE – Southbound Interstate 5 will have a daytime lane and rest area closure beginning Wednesday, Oct. 15, in Ferndale near the Custer rest area (milepost 269). 

One lane of southbound I-5 will close from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 15. Additionally, the southbound I-5 Custer rest area will close at the same time. People can find other rest areas on WSDOT’s website.

Contractor crews working for the Washington State Department of Transportation will use the closures to install roadway sensors in support of the southbound I-5 Nooksack River to Blaine paving project.
