There is a horizontal green band that reads Rest of the West News. Above it is the letters W S D O T. An oval on the right reads state route 520.

In this update:

Reminder: Full closure of 10th Avenue East overpass this weekend

Heads up! We have an updated schedule for our planned 10th Avenue East overpass closure in Seattle's north Capitol Hill neighborhood.

On Saturday, Sept. 27, and Sunday, Sept. 28, crews will fully close the 10th Avenue East overpass between East Roanoke Street and East Miller Street.

Closure hours

  • 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily on Saturday, Sept. 27, and Sunday, Sept. 28

Crews working for the Portage Bay Bridge and Roanoke Lid Project will use the full closure to relocate King County Metro trolley lines in preparation of our upcoming Boyer hillside and East Roanoke Street utility work.

What to expect:

  • Restricted street parking and closed sidewalks on 10th Avenue East
  • Daytime noise from trucks and other construction equipment
  • Maintained access to homes and businesses near the area
  • A uniformed police officer will guide traffic in both directions at the 10th Avenue East and East Roanoke Street intersection
  • Signed detour routes along nearby arterial streets
    • People traveling north should follow detour signs at East Roy Street or East Boston Street
    • People traveling south should follow detour signs at East Roanoke Street towards Boylston Avenue East or towards Delmar Drive East

We encourage all drivers to be mindful of the detour routes and to respect the posted signs and speed limits while working your way around the closure.

This work will affect Metro Route #49. For questions about transit impacts and reroutes, please contact King County Metro directly or visit their trip planner page for more info. For all other questions please call our 24-hour hotline at 206-319-4520 or email us at SR520bridge@wsdot.wa.gov.
