Updated hours: East Roanoke Street closures

Earlier this week, we shared that crews would fully close East Roanoke Street between Harvard Avenue East and 10th Avenue East around-the-clock this weekend. Crews have since updated their construction schedule and will now only close East Roanoke Street on Saturday and Sunday from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m.

Updated closure hours:

  • Saturday, Sept. 20, from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m.
  • Sunday, Sept. 21, from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m.
Weekend Roanoke Street ramp closure Sept. 21 and 22

Crews will reopen East Roanoke Street to traffic from 10 p.m. Saturday to 7 a.m. Sunday. Here’s what to expect during this weekend’s work:

  • Signed detours in place; flaggers and uniformed police officers on-site during peak traffic hours to help direct cars, bikes and pedestrians near the work area.
  • Sidewalk closures on the south side of East Roanoke Street (the sidewalk on the north side of East Roanoke Street will remain open).
  • Noise from trucks and other construction equipment.

We will maintain limited access for emergency services through the closure area. This work will affect Metro Route #49. For questions about transit impacts and reroutes, please contact King County Metro directly. For all other questions please call our 24-hour hotline at 206-319-4520 or email us at SR520bridge@wsdot.wa.gov.

Termination of the Montlake Project 24/7 hotline

With major construction in the rear-view mirror, we have closed the Montlake Project’s 24-hour hotline. For Montlake-related questions or concerns, please send an email to SR520bridge@wsdot.wa.gov or call our SR 520 Program Info Line at 206-200-9484. Please note the email inbox and info line are monitored during daytime hours only: Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Next weekend: 10th Avenue East closures and long-term sidewalk closure

Next weekend, crews will close the 10th Avenue East overpass between East Roanoke Street and East Miller Street on:

  • Saturday, Sept. 27, from 7 a.m. to midnight
  • Sunday, Sept. 28, from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m.

Crews will use these closures to relocate utilities and set temporary traffic barriers. These utilities include King County Metro trolley wires, which serve Metro Route #49. Transit users should contact King County Metro directly for any questions regarding route impacts.

Long-term sidewalk closure

After crews reopen 10th Avenue East on Sunday night, the sidewalk on the east side of 10th Avenue East will remain closed until 2028 for Roanoke lid construction. The west side sidewalk on 10th Avenue East will remain open.
