In this update:
Starting at 11 p.m. Friday, Sept. 19, through 5 a.m. Monday, Sept. 22, crews will fully close East Roanoke Street between Harvard Avenue East and 10th Avenue East (see closure map below). Access to Broadway Avenue East and the nearby alley will also be closed from East Roanoke Street.
Crews working for the Portage Bay Bridge and Roanoke Lid Project will use the full closure to relocate King County Metro trolley lines in preparation of our upcoming Boyer hillside and East Roanoke Street utility work.
Here’s what to expect:
- Sidewalk closures on the south side of East Roanoke Street (the sidewalk on the north side of East Roanoke Street will remain open).
- Flaggers and Uniformed Police Officers on-site during peak traffic hours to help direct cars, bikes and pedestrians near the work area.
- Daytime noise from trucks and other construction equipment.
- We will maintain limited access for emergency services near the closure area.
This work will affect Metro Route #49. For questions about transit impacts and reroutes, please contact King County Metro directly. For all other questions please call our 24-hour hotline at 206-319-4520 or email us at SR520bridge@wsdot.wa.gov.
Heads up! We have overnight ramp closures this week to and from SR 520 in Seattle to complete regular roadway maintenance in WSDOT right of way. The following ramps will close from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m.:
