Westbound I-90 overnight closure scheduled Friday, Sept. 19, from Mercer Island to Seattle
MERCER ISLAND – All westbound Interstate 90 lanes from Island Crest Way in Mercer Island to Rainier Avenue South in Seattle will close from 10 p.m. Friday, Sept. 19, to 6 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 20, for tunnel maintenance. People should seek alternate routes.
During the closure:
- Westbound I-90 lanes will begin to close at 8:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 19.
- The 76th Avenue Southeast, Island Crest Way HOV and West Mercer Way on-ramps to westbound I-90 in Mercer Island will close at 9 p.m. Friday, Sept. 19.
- All ramps and lanes will reopen by 6 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 20.
Washington State Department of Transportation tunnel maintenance crews will perform maintenance in the Mount Baker and Mercer Island Lid tunnels during the nighttime closure.
The work includes fire suppression testing, emergency system and lighting maintenance, drain cleaning and road sweeping.
