SR 11/Chuckanut Drive reopens June 19 following 58 day closure due to rockslide

BOW – State Route 11/Chuckanut Drive between the Oyster Dome trail head and Chuckanut Manor will be back open at 2 p.m. Thursday, June 19, after being closed for nearly two months for emergency repairs following a large rockslide on April 22.

Contractor crews working for the Washington State Department of Transportation worked six, sometimes seven days a week to remove over 3,600 tons of debris, including 15-20 SUV-sized boulders and replace 125 feet of damaged guardrail. In addition to debris removal and repair, crews manually removed loose rock, drilled anchors into the slope and stabilized the area.
