Multiple I-5 lanes, ramps closed overnight Monday, April 28 to Friday, May 2, in Seattle
SEATTLE – Beginning Monday night, April 28, multiple lanes and ramps of Interstate 5 through Seattle will close overnight for roadwork on a City of Seattle project until Friday morning, May 2.
People traveling on I-5 through downtown Seattle should expect the following nightly closures:
Overnight Monday, April 28
- The Cherry Street on-ramp to northbound I-5, starting at 9 p.m. to 4:30 a.m.
- The northbound I-5 off-ramp to Olive Way and the three right lanes of northbound I-5 between I-90 and Olive Way, 10 p.m. to 4:30 a.m.
Overnight Tuesday, April 29
- The Pike Street on-ramp to the I-5 express lanes, 9 p.m. to 11 p.m. The express lanes will open southbound on schedule Wednesday, April 30.
- The Yale Avenue/Howell Street on-ramp to southbound I-5, 10 p.m. to 5 a.m.
- The southbound I-5 off-ramp to Union Street and the three right lanes of southbound I-5 between Stewart Street and Pike Street, 11 p.m. to 4 a.m.
Overnight Wednesday, April 30
- All lanes of northbound I-5 between I-90 and Olive Way with traffic going north of downtown diverted to the express lanes, 10 p.m. to 4:30 a.m. People going to downtown Seattle will need to exit at Dearborn, James or Madison streets. There are no exits from the northbound express lanes to downtown.
- The University Street on-ramp to northbound I-5 and the northbound I-5 off-ramp to Seneca Street, 10 p.m. to 4:30 a.m.
- The three left lanes of southbound I-5 between Stewart and Pike streets, 11 p.m. to 4 a.m.
Overnight Thursday, May 1
- The Pike Street on-ramp to the I-5 express lanes, 9 p.m. to 11 p.m. The express lanes will open southbound on schedule Friday, May 2.
- The Yale Avenue/Howell Street on-ramp to southbound I-5, 10 p.m. to 5 a.m.
- The southbound I-5 off-ramp to Union Street and the three right lanes of southbound I-5 between Stewart and Pike streets, 11 p.m. to 4 a.m.
City crews supporting the Pike Pine Streetscape and Bicycle Improvements Project will work on removing a containment system during the closure. People should plan for delays through the area.
