In this update:
Crews will close a single lane in each direction of SR 520 (eastbound and westbound) between I-5 and Montlake Boulevard this Saturday and Sunday, Feb. 22 and 23, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Crews need to close the lanes to survey and install in-water pilings for a temporary work bridge in Portage Bay. The closures will ensure the safety of crews and the traveling public while crews piledrive a few feet away from SR 520.

Earlier this month neighbors may have noticed crews working at night in and around Portage Bay. Night work has primarily focused on building the surface deck of the temporary work bridge directly next to the existing Portage Bay Bridge.
As a reminder, no impact piledriving will happen during nighttime hours. If you have questions or concerns about noise, please call the 24-hour construction hotline at 206-319-4520.
Heads up Bill Dawson Trail users! In the next few weeks Skanska will begin working near the Bill Dawson Trail to prepare for some tree and vegetation removal. Some of the trees and vegetation in this area need to be cleared to make space for future construction activities.
During this time, travel along the trail may be temporarily delayed. People walking, biking and rolling should expect:
- Crews working on and near the trail during daytime hours, typically Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., and occasionally on weekends from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
- Flaggers intermittently stopping trail traffic for short periods of time (no more than 10-15 minutes at a time) while crews move equipment around the area.
In the coming weeks, Skanska will also have some full trail closures lasting between one and three days. We will provide signed detour routes for bicycles and pedestrians. Stay tuned for those dates soon!
