"Monster" closures starting tonight

Heads up! We’re facing a “monster weekend” with closures across the Puget Sound area. Plan ahead and allow extra travel time! See below for details.

  • SR 520 bridge (including associated ramps) and SR 520 Trail: Crews will fully close SR 520 in both directions between I-5 in Seattle and 92nd Avenue Northeast in Clyde Hill on the eastside starting at 11 p.m. tonight, Friday, Sept. 27, until 5 a.m. Monday, Sept. 30. During the closure, crews will test lighting and a new fire suppression system under the Montlake lid, pave, and work on utilities. The SR 520 Trail across the lake will also be closed.
  • Bill Dawson Trail: Crews will close the Bill Dawson Trail between East Calhoun Street and Montlake Boulevard starting at 10 p.m. tonight, Friday, Sept. 27, until 5 a.m. Crews will use this closure to complete landscaping.

Missed our September monthly meeting? You can view the presentation online (PDF 6.7MB) or watch the meeting recording on YouTube.

Reminder: Bill Dawson Trail users

Once the Bill Dawson Trail reopens, the tunnel beneath Montlake Boulevard will be accessible. However, please remember that the tunnel entrance is located on the east side of Montlake Boulevard (see map below). Look for signs in the area to guide you to the new entrance.

Crews are still working on connecting the trail to other parts of the area, including the new bike and pedestrian bridge and the SR 520 Trail. Stay tuned for updates!
