North and southbound I-405 closed in Renton, from SR 900 to Coal Creek Parkway, July 12-15
RENTON – Northbound and southbound I-405 in Renton will be fully closed starting at 11 p.m., Friday, July 12 to 4 a.m., Monday, July 15. Northbound I-405 will be closed from the North Southport Drive on-ramp to I-405 to the I-405 off-ramp to 112th Ave Southeast. Southbound I-405 will be closed from Coal Creek Parkway Southeast on-ramp to I-405 to the I-405 off-ramp to Northeast 30th Street. Crews will be working to implement drainage crossings over the north and southbound lanes of I-405 as part of the I-405/Renton to Bellevue Widening and Express Toll Lanes Project. Signed detour routes will be in place. Travelers should expect heavier traffic volumes along the detour routes.
People should also note all lanes on eastbound Interstate 90 from Seattle to Mercer Island will be closed beginning at 10 p.m. Friday, July 12, until 6 a.m. Saturday, July 13, for tunnel maintenance. The southbound I-5 off-ramp to eastbound I-90 and the northbound and southbound Rainier Avenue South on-ramps to eastbound I-90 will close starting at 9 p.m. Friday, July 12. All lanes and ramps will reopen by 6 a.m. Saturday, July 13.
Detour information:
The primary northbound detour route for drivers will begin at the northbound off-ramp to SR 900/Sunset Boulevard Northeast (Exit 5) and continue onto Duvall Avenue Northeast and Coal Creek Parkway Southeast. Drivers will then use the northbound I-405 on-ramp from Coal Creek Parkway Southeast towards I-90 and downtown Bellevue.
The primary southbound detour route for drivers will begin at the southbound I-405 off-ramp to Coal Creek Parkway Southeast (Exit 10) and continue onto Duvall Avenue Northeast and SR 900/Sunset Boulevard Northeast. Drivers will then use the southbound I-405 on-ramp from SR 900/Sunset Boulevard Northeast towards downtown Renton.
Drivers are encouraged to reduce speeds while traveling through the work zone for the safety of our crews. For construction updates, travelers can download the WSDOT app or find more information on the WSDOT real-time travel map and Renton Bellevue project webpage.
