Eastbound I-90 overnight closure scheduled Friday, July 12, between Seattle, Mercer Island
SEATTLE – All lanes on eastbound Interstate 90 from Seattle to Mercer Island will be closed beginning at 10 p.m. Friday, July 12, until 6 a.m. Saturday, July 13, for tunnel maintenance. People should seek alternate routes.
In addition to the tunnel closures, several ramps will close at 9 p.m. Friday:

The southbound I-5 on-ramp to eastbound I-90.

The northbound and southbound Rainier Avenue South on-ramps to eastbound I-90.

These ramps will reopen by 6 a.m. Saturday, July 13.
Washington State Department of Transportation tunnel maintenance crews will perform regular, scheduled maintenance in the Mount Baker and Mercer Island Lid tunnels during the nighttime closure.
The work includes pressure washing zone markings, tunnel signs and reflectors; inspecting the emergency phone system, jet fans, road hydrants and drain markings; cleaning the fire detection cameras and emergency phones; jet fan maintenance and painting drain marks.
Since May 3, a flammable cargo restriction is in place for both directions of I-90 in the Mount Baker and the Mercer Island Lid tunnels. That restriction will remain in effect until further notice.
People should also note a full closure of northbound and southbound I-405 in Renton starting at 11 p.m., Friday, July 12 to 4 a.m., Monday, July 15. Northbound I-405 will be closed from the North Southport Drive on-ramp to I-405 to the I-405 off-ramp to 112th Ave Southeast. Southbound I-405 will be closed from Coal Creek Parkway Southeast on-ramp to I-405 to the I-405 off-ramp to Northeast 30th Street. Signed detour routes will guide people around the I-405 closures in both directions.
