Southbound I-5 to see right lane closure for concrete panel replacement south of Bellingham, May 19-20

BELLINGHAM – People traveling southbound on Interstate 5 in Bellingham should expect to see the right lane closed between Lakeway Drive (mileposts 253) and Samish Way (milepost 252). Beginning at 8:30 a.m. Sunday, May 19 until 11 a.m. Monday, May 20, Washington State Department of Transportation maintenance crews will remove and replace a broken concrete panel. The I-5 off-ramp to Samish Way (exit 252) will also close, and a signed detour will be in place.

The lane reduction allows crews to safely perform necessary repair work on I-5. People should plan for additional travel time.

People can receive real-time traffic information from the WSDOT mobile app, the real-time travel map.
