Closures this weekend: Montlake Boulevard, Mercer Street on-ramp to northbound I-5, and southbound I-5 off-ramp to Mercer Street

In this update:

Reminder: Montlake Boulevard closed this weekend

Crews will close Montlake Boulevard in both directions between East Louisa Street and East Hamlin Street starting at 10 p.m. tonight, Friday, Oct. 27, until 5 a.m. Monday, Oct. 30 for utility work on Montlake Boulevard and continued work on the Montlake lid.

All associated SR 520 on- and off-ramps in Montlake will also be closed. A pedestrian and bike route will be available through the area. The SR 520 Trail will remain open.

Note that travelers heading east from I-5 in Seattle will need to pay the SR 520 bridge toll as the Montlake Boulevard exit will be closed.

Mercer Street on-ramp to northbound I-5 closed this weekend

The Mercer Street on-ramp to northbound I-5, which includes an entrance to the express lanes, will close from 5 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 28 until 5 a.m. Monday, Oct. 30.

Temporary reopening:

On Sunday, Oct. 29, the ramp will reopen for three hours each during the times below for those headed to events in the area. 

  • 3 p.m. until 6 p.m.
  • 9 p.m. until 11:59 p.m.

The Mercer Street on-ramp to southbound I-5 will stay open. 

Overnight closure of southbound I-5 off-ramp to Mercer Street tonight and Saturday night

The southbound I-5 off-ramp to Mercer Street will also close overnight from 10 p.m. until 5 a.m. the next day on Friday, Oct. 27, and Saturday, Oct. 28.

The above Mercer Street ramp closures allow crews to start paving work for the new reversible express lanes ramp at Mercer Street and lay the foundation for a new sign bridge. Travelers should plan for potential delays and use alternate routes.
