SR 520 closed across Lake Washington this weekend (trail open); update on Montlake Boulevard progress

In this update:

Plan ahead: SR 520 closed across Lake Washington this weekend, Aug. 25-28

Crews will close SR 520 in both directions between I-5 in Seattle and 92nd Avenue Northeast on the Eastside from 11 p.m. Friday, Aug. 25, until 5 a.m. Monday, Aug. 28. During the closure, crews will conduct utility work, including lighting under the Montlake lid, and pave the highway’s connection to the new eastbound bridge we’re building over Union Bay.

The SR 520 Trail across Lake Washington will remain open.

Reminder: Mercer Street on-ramp to northbound I-5 closing this weekend, Aug. 25-28

It will be a busy weekend in South Lake Union with two big concerts scheduled in Seattle, so if your travels take you that way, here’s a reminder that the on-ramp to northbound I-5 from Mercer Street is closing again.

The closure starts at 9 p.m. Friday, Aug. 25 and continues until 4 a.m. Monday, Aug. 28. Signed detours will be in place.

The on-ramp closure also means there will be no Mercer Street entrance to the I-5 Express Lanes, though the express lanes themselves will be open this weekend.

Travelers on Mercer Street will still be able to access southbound I-5.

#MontlakeMakeover:

Crews made more progress this past weekend on the reshaping of Montlake Boulevard. A new sidewalk on the west side of Montlake is set to open soon, and we’re getting closer to shifting the eastbound lanes of SR 520 onto the new eastbound bridge.
