In this update:
We’re gearing up for a busy 10 days in the Montlake neighborhood and it begins with a weekend closure of SR 520 across Lake Washington.
Beginning at 11 p.m. Friday, July 14, westbound SR 520 and one lane of eastbound SR 520 will close.
Because of a closure of eastbound I-90 on the same night, one lane of eastbound SR 520 will remain open until 9 a.m. Saturday, July 15. Then, that lane will close and all of SR 520 between I-5 in Seattle and 92nd Avenue Northeast in Clyde Hill will remain closed until 5 a.m. Monday, July 17. The SR 520 Trail will remain open.
Since the exit to Montlake Boulevard will be closed, all eastbound drivers will pay the SR 520 Bridge Toll or consider alternate routes.
We’ll fully close SR 520 across Lake Washington again between I-5 in Seattle and 92nd Avenue Northeast in Clyde Hill from 11 p.m. Friday, July 21, to 5 a.m. Monday, July 24. The SR 520 Trail will remain open.
Spanning these closures is a full closure of Montlake Boulevard between East Hamlin Street and East Louisa Street beginning at 10 p.m. Friday, July 14, and continuing around-the-clock until 5 a.m. Monday, July 24. Access will be maintained for bicycles and pedestrians.
On July 1 the SR 520 toll rates increased between$0.20 and $1.10 for vehicles with two axels, with a similar increase for vehicles with additional axels. The rate of increase depends on the time of the day.
Weekday drivers will pay the peak toll rate when crossing the bridge between 7 and10 a.m. and 3 and 7 p.m. Drivers with a Good To Go! pass will continue to pay the lowest toll rate on all toll roads.
The Washington State Transportation Commission adopted the rate increase in 2021 to address long-term pandemic-related effects on the bridge’s finances, but the increase was deferred to 2023 thanks to the Legislature providing $60 million in American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funds to offset lower revenues for the 2021-2023 Biennium.

Don't forget: Our Montlake Project June meeting’s recording and presentation are available online. We acknowledge the audio quality wasn’t great and appreciate your patience as we sorted out technical hiccups during our first hybrid in-person/online meeting. We’re working to improve these issues for future meetings.
Our next meeting will be held virtually at 12:30 p.m. on Wednesday, July 19. Register and learn more.
