In this update:

Eastbound SR 520 closed this Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights across Lake Washington

If you're planning a nighttime trip to the Eastside from Seattle this weekend, you’ll need to take I-90 or go around the lake because crews will close eastbound SR 520 each night to work on the Montlake lid over the highway.

Crews will close SR 520 between I-5 and 92nd Avenue Northeast from:

  • 9 p.m. Friday to 9 a.m. Saturday (June 30 - July 1)
  • 9 p.m. Saturday to 9 a.m. Sunday (July 1-2)
  • 9 p.m. Sunday to 5 a.m. Monday (July 2-3)

All associated eastbound on- and off-ramps will close during the nightly closures but the SR 520 Trail will remain open.

Montlake Project monthly meeting

Our Montlake Project June meeting’s recording and presentation are now available online. We’d like to acknowledge the audio quality for the recording wasn’t great and appreciate your patience as we sorted out technical hiccups during our first hybrid in-person/online meeting. We’re working to improve these issues for future meetings.

Reminder: Toll rates on SR 520 floating bridge increase July 1

Beginning Saturday, July 1, the SR 520 toll rates will increase between 20 cents and $1.10 for vehicles with two axles, with similar increases for vehicles with additional axles. The rate of increase depends on the time of day.

Weekday drivers will pay peak toll rates when crossing the bridge between 7 and 10 a.m. and 3 and 7 p.m. Drivers with a Good To Go! pass will continue paying lower toll rates on all toll roads.

The Washington State Transportation Commission adopted the rate increase in 2021 to address long-term pandemic-related effects on the bridge’s finances, but the increase was deferred to 2023 thanks to the Legislature providing $60 million in American Rescue Plan Act funds to offset lower revenues for the 2021-2023 Biennium.
