In this update:
Starting Monday, May 1, crews will close varying sections of Lake Washington Boulevard around the clock for 19 days. This marks the first of two phases to reconstruct Lake Washington Boulevard. The second phase will start in July/August.
May 1-4: Starting at 7 a.m. Monday, crews will close westbound Lake Washington Boulevard from 24th Avenue East to East Foster Island Road. The westbound SR 520 off-ramp to Lake Washington Boulevard will be open.
 May 4-6: Starting at 11 p.m. Thursday, crews will close westbound Lake Washington Boulevard from Montlake Boulevard to East Foster Island Road. The westbound SR 520 off-ramp to Lake Washington Boulevard will also be closed.
 May 6-19: Starting at 10 p.m. Saturday, May 6, crews will close Lake Washington Boulevard – in both directions – from Montlake Boulevard to East Foster Island Road. The westbound SR 520 off-ramp to Lake Washington Boulevard will also be closed.*
 *Please note: On Saturday, May 6, crews will reopen the SR 520 off-ramp to Lake Washington Boulevard from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. to accommodate the first day of boating season.
These closures will allow crews to work on concrete forms under the new Montlake lid.
Over the weekend of May 19-21, the I-5 express lanes and northbound Interstate 5 near the State Route 520 interchange will close so crews can place steel bridge girders for a new flyover ramp over the freeway.
The closures extend from 10 p.m. Friday, May 19 to 10 a.m. Sunday, May 21. Signed detours with uniformed police officers will guide traffic. The work will require drivers on northbound I-5 to use eastbound SR 520 and Montlake Boulevard to turn around and rejoin northbound I-5 just past the work zone.
 Please note: People who continue past the Montlake Boulevard exit on eastbound SR 520 will need to pay the SR 520 bridge toll. Plan ahead and prepare for delays. This work is part of the SR 520/I-5 Express Lanes Connection Project.
You’re invited to an online presentation and Q&A session on Friday, May 12 as we approach a major milestone for the SR 520/I-5 Express Lanes Connection Project.
During the weekend closure from May 19-21, crews will set steel bridge girders for a new flyover ramp. Come ask questions to the project team and learn about what we’ve accomplished and what’s to come.
