In this update:
Crews will work on a limited construction schedule through the end of December to accommodate the holiday season. Neighbors can expect a more regular construction schedule to pick back up the first week of the new year. Happy holidays!

Construction continues on the biking and walking tunnel under Montlake Boulevard that will connect the SR 520 Trail across Lake Washington to the Bill Dawson Trail. The Montlake Boulevard on-ramp to westbound SR 520 will close overnight from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 4, and Thursday, Jan. 5 as crews install beams to construct the tunnel’s roof.

This week marks five years since the SR 520 Trail first opened to the public! The trail is a major part of our region’s bicycle and pedestrian network and serves hundreds of users every day.

In July 2021 Good To Go! launched an updated customer service system and website, which provides users with new tools to pay bills, open accounts, purchase passes, update their information and more. To give customers an opportunity to get used to the new system and give our vendor time to make necessary changes to the system, WSDOT temporarily stopped charging late fees and penalties. This gave customers a grace period for unpaid tolls. On March 1, 2023, however, that grace period is coming to an end and late fees will resume.
What that means for you:
- On March 1 unpaid tolls dating back as far as June 2021 will be charged a $5 late fee if the original bill remains unpaid. Once a reminder bill is issued, a $40 civil penalty per toll will be charged. If tolls still remain unpaid after the notice of civil penalty, the Department of Licensing will place a hold on your vehicle registration.
- You can easily pay your bill online at MyGoodToGo.com, or by calling customer service at 1-866-936-8246.
- We have a one-time forgiveness program that can waive fees and penalties when you pay the original toll. Call customer service at 1-866-936-8246 to find out more.
- Drivers without a Good To Go! account can save up to $1.75 on each unpaid toll by opening a Good To Go! account at no cost.
There’s still time to act! You have until March 1, 2023, to pay your outstanding bills before any fees are charged. So don’t delay!

Make sure to act soon and take advantage of the new self-service tools available because the call center will be busy once the grace period ends!
SR 520 will be fully closed in both directions between I-5 in Seattle and 92nd Avenue Northeast on the Eastside from 11 p.m. Friday, Jan. 6 until 5 a.m. Monday Jan. 9. During that weekend, crews will place girders for the Montlake lid and pour concrete for the new eastbound bridge over Union Bay. The SR 520 Trail will remain open during that time.
