Slow down for safety on SR 520

There is a horizontal green band that reads Rest of the West News. Above it is the letters W S D O T. An oval on the right reads state route 520.

Slow down for safety! Our new signs will remind you

As you drive between I-5 and Lake Washington on SR 520, you will see new signs that flash your vehicle’s speed as you pass by. The speed limit in our work zones is 40 mph to help our crews and travelers get home safely. If you’re driving faster than the limit, the signs provide a swift but gentle reminder to SLOW DOWN.  Check out our latest blog to learn more.

Portage Bay Bridge and Roanoke Lid Project: Draft Community Construction Management Plan available online

In case you missed it: the Portage Bay Bridge and Roanoke Lid Project team has completed a draft Community Construction Management Plan (CCMP) and a Tree and Vegetation Management and Protection Plan (TVMPP) and would love to get your feedback!

The CCMP describes the project’s construction effects and includes best practices the contractor must follow to minimize those effects on the community. The Tree and Vegetation Management and Protection Plan is part of the CCMP and outlines practices to preserve and protect trees and vegetation around the project construction area. Both plans are evolving and will be updated by our contractor based on your input and the contractor’s construction methods. You can read the plans and submit feedback via our online open house.
