Construction is in high gear for the SR 520 Montlake Project and the SR 520/I-5 connection project. Additionally, our team is preparing to begin the Portage Bay Bridge and Roanoke Lid project in 2024.
This month, we’re hosting three public meetings for you to learn more about each of these projects. See below for details!

Major construction on the Portage Bay Bridge and Roanoke Lid Project is set to begin in 2024 and will last approximately six years. We’ve launched an online open house, open from June 3 to Aug. 5, for nearby neighbors to learn more about what to expect during construction.
Topics covered include:
- Project timeline
- Noise
- Vibration
- Dust and light
- Traffic
- Upcoming public involvement activities
We hope you’ll “stop by” for a visit!
Do you have traffic or mobility concerns in your neighborhood? Our construction will cause some disruption for drivers, bicyclists, pedestrians, and transit riders traveling through the Portage Bay area. WSDOT and the city of Seattle are currently collaborating to develop a Neighborhood Traffic Management Plan (NTMP) to identify potential traffic management measures on local streets before construction begins. Is there a specific location or intersection that could benefit from traffic management solutions before, during or after SR 520 construction? Please share those with us via our online neighborhood traffic survey and/or register for our Aug. 4 NTMP public meeting.
Join us Wednesday, June 15 to learn about what to expect this summer on the Montlake Project. Upcoming milestones include the permanent closure of the Lake Washington Boulevard on-ramp to eastbound SR 520. Register below to attend and participate in a Q&A.
