In this update:
Opening Day of boating season is this Saturday, May 7. Travelers can expect delays as spectators line the shores of Portage Bay and the Montlake Cut to watch the parade of boats.
The Montlake Bridge will be closed from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. Saturday. The westbound off-ramp to Montlake Boulevard will also be closed. The eastbound off-ramp to Montlake Boulevard will be partially open with no left turns onto northbound Montlake Boulevard.
We are hosting a work zone safety event for Montlake neighbors this Friday, May 6 from 3 p.m. until 5 p.m. Join us near Burbs Burgers at the corner of Montlake Boulevard and East Roanoke Street for a day of fun activities, presentations and giveaways, centered on the importance of personal and work zone safety.
Check out the work zone safety video below, featuring Safi Alzeer, our SR 520 Environmental Compliance Manager.

As part of the SR 520/I-5 Express Lanes Connection Project, crews must work at night while the express lanes are closed to demolish a 26-foot long portion of a retaining wall between the express lanes and northbound I-5. After removing the retaining wall, crews will excavate the soil and begin building a support structure for the new ramp over the northbound lanes.
Crews will work on Thursday and Monday nights from 11 p.m. until 4:30 a.m. Expect noise and vibrations as crews use jackhammers and excavators to break apart the concrete wall. Truck beds will be lined to reduce loading noise.
Please call the 24-hour SR 520/I-5 project hotline at 206-316-2559 if you have concerns, so we can address them quickly.
