Do you manage private inventory in the WAIIS?
Managing private vaccine stock in the WAIIS is optional. You do not need to select a Product or an NDC Number when adding a privately purchased vaccine to your WAIIS inventory. Not all NDC Numbers will be available on the drop-down menu when adding a private vaccine in the WAIIS.
Executive Order on Childhood Vaccine Recommendations
The Washington State Department of Health (DOH) is aware of the Executive Order issued by the White House regarding childhood vaccine recommendations and is reviewing the details and potential implications for Washington.
An Executive Order is a directive from the president to federal agencies. It can direct agencies to take certain actions, but it does not immediately change vaccine recommendations, laws, or clinical practice. Any changes resulting from the order would require additional federal action and implementation.
Washington’s childhood immunization recommendations have not changed. They are guided by the best available science, informed by recommendations from trusted medical and public health experts, and aligned with the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) Recommended Child and Adolescent Immunization schedule. There are no changes to insurance coverage, or to school immunization requirements.
As DOH continues to monitor the Executive Order and subsequent federal actions, providers and partners should continue following current Washington state vaccine guidance. Please encourage patients and families to talk with their health care providers about questions or concerns about vaccinations.

WaTech Access Control
As part of our ongoing commitment to data security, we are sharing a few reminders today.
The purpose of the WaTech Access Control Policy is to provide an access control that can strengthen IT security and by aligning the business needs with the technical privileges given, minimize impacts of any security breaches. The Access Control Policy requires agencies to exercise principles of least privilege when providing system access, and management of user accounts on system components.
As outlined in each organization’s signed WAIIS Information Sharing Agreement (ISA) and each user’s individually signed Confidentiality Agreement, anyone authorized to access the WAIIS, has a responsibility to ensure all personal healthcare records in the system are protected and remain confidential. Controls are necessary to ensure that only authorized individuals can access information systems and data assets.
- Management of user accounts on system components
- Agencies to exercise principles of least privilege when providing system access.
Additional information about the WaTech Access Control Policy is available on the Access Control Policy | WaTech website. If you have questions about system access, the ISA, or confidentiality agreements, please contact us at iisdataquality@doh.wa.gov. For questions about HL7 data exchange please contact us at iisdataexchange@doh.wa.gov.

Test Patient Data
Test patient data should not be entered in the WAIIS production environment. Test patients are fictional records created to test a variety of system functions. Any test patient data should be removed from the registry. If you need assistance deleting test data, please contact us at IIS.Training@doh.wa.gov.

Information Sharing Agreement (ISA) Renewals
The DOH provider enrollment team is working to renew the Information Sharing Agreements (ISAs) for organizations participating in the WAIIS. Please check your records to ensure your ISAs are up to date as these agreements expire every 3 years. You may lose connectivity to the IIS if no response is received during our review and cleanup of IIS data.
If you are not up to date, click here to renew your agreement or contact pchoiisa@doh.wa.gov for any additional questions.
