Hello Adult Vaccine Program Partners,
The AVP vaccine request opportunity for non-COVID/non-flu vaccines closes tomorrow August 26.
Please check the status of your order in the IIS. If your order says "Pending Local Approval," please check your order for DOH notes or contact us at WAAdultVaccines@doh.wa.gov to see if you have any outstanding items preventing order approval. If your order says "Pending State Approval," your order is in the allocation phase and no further action needs to be taken at this time.
If you do not have familiarity with placing a vaccine request or receiving vaccines in the IIS, you can review this AVP Vaccine Ordering and Receiving Guide for step by step instructions.
Here are some important reminders:
- Only submit one vaccine request in the IIS for your facility for this specific order request.
- Your facility will have an order set available in the IIS containing the vaccine types prioritized on your AVP provider agreement.
- This is a vaccine request, not an order, and requests may be reduced to stay within the AVP’s available budget.
- Final orders will be placed in late September after our vaccine allocation process concludes.
In order to receive an allocation of AVP vaccine, your facility’s provider agreement and accountability must be current. This includes:
- The approval of your facility's 2026-2027 AVP Provider Agreement in Redcap with submission before the stated deadline of July 17, 2026.
- The submission of up-to-date inventory within the last 14 days in the IIS. This document, starting on page 3, will walk you through this process.
- Temperature log submission in Redcap, including any outstanding items. If you need assistance with Redcap, you can review this Step-by-Step Guide around navigating temperature log submission in Redcap.
- Any other outstanding items such as Vaccine Loss Logs.
The next AVP order request opportunity for these vaccine types will be in March, so you may request a 6-month supply of vaccine during this request window.
- When placing your request, please keep in mind that AVP vaccines are a limited resource in high demand. Waste should be kept below 5%, so please order intentionally with regards to what your facility can administer based on previous years and carefully consider the amount you request.
AVP vaccines can only be administered to uninsured adults 19+ years of age. Medicare and Medicaid are considered insurance, so individuals with these plans do not qualify for AVP.
We will send out additional communications around the ordering process for AVP COVID-19 and flu vaccine ordering in the coming weeks. These vaccine types will be in separate AVP order sets, which are not yet available.

- Respiratory season clinical overview and vaccine recommendations.
- Respiratory season vaccine allocation and the ordering process.
- Strategies to improve clinic workflow for respiratory season vaccines.
FDA Licensure of mFlusiva
FDA licensed a new mRNA influenza vaccine (mFlusiva, Moderna) to prevent influenza disease in people 50 years of age and older. mFlusiva showed superior efficacy compared to a standard dose flu vaccine in people age 50 years and older and superior immunogenicity compared to a high-dose flu vaccine in people age 65 years and older. Recipients reported a higher rate of side effects after vaccination, compared to standard egg-based influenza vaccine, with side effects mild or moderate and resolving within 2 days
mFlusiva is expected to be available commercially for the upcoming respiratory season but currently isn’t included in the WA Adult Vaccine Program.
In previous years, ACIP would vote on vaccine recommendations. At this time, no ACIP meeting is planned, but the American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP) and Infectious Diseases Society of America (IDSA) plan to issue flu vaccination recommendations for the 2026–27 season in early September. The mRNA influenza vaccine may be included in those recommendations.
