Ordering Respiratory Products
- Allow at least 3 days for order approval from time of submission for accountability checks
- Orders need to be in "Pending State Approval" status in the IIS by close of business the weekday before the processing day
- If there is not enough vaccine in allocation, orders will be reduced based on the Vaccine Allocation and Equity Plan
Influenza Vaccine
- Ordering for influenza vaccine will open September 1, 2026 for products with sufficient allocation
COVID-19 Vaccine
- Ordering timeline is dependent on FDA approval and receipt of doses from manufacturers
- Based on previous seasons, ordering is expected to open in late September to early October
Shipping Timelines
 The above table shows the typical time between final approval of an order in the IIS ("State Approval") and shipment of the vaccine by McKesson or the manufacturer during the 2025-26 respiratory season. The timelines do not include time in transit after vaccine has shipped. DOH does not control the shipping timeline. This information is provided as a reference to help providers prepare.
The Respiratory Vaccine Provider Feedback Form is now available on the Respiratory Season Resources section of the CVP webpage. Use the form to provide any feedback, thoughts, or suggestions on the 2026-2027 respiratory season. The form link will remain active throughout respiratory season and can be filled out multiple times.

- Strategies to improve clinic workflow for respiratory season vaccines.

Continuing education (CE) credits are available for nurses, medical assistants, pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, and naturopathic physicians. The webinar will be recorded and CEs will be available for watching the recording.
Providers should continue to follow the current Department of Health (DOH) vaccination recommendations for children. This schedule reflects the current evidence-based standard of care for pediatric immunization. Read the full statement from the West Coast Health Alliance regarding childhood vaccines here.
CVP providers must maintain an inventory of the vaccines recommended for the patient population served. Providers that do not serve infant populations do not need to have RSV products in their inventory.
As of April 2026, the Childhood and Adult Vaccine Programs use the New Vaccine Loss Survey (VLS) in REDCap for providers to report vaccine loss.
If you report a monthly vaccine loss of $2,500 or more in WAIIS, you will receive a REDCap Vaccine Loss Survey link by email on the first Wednesday of each month.
Important: Continue to display the Vaccine Loss Log near your storage units to track monthly waste, and retain the form for three years. You no longer need to submit the log by email.
The American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP)’s Committee on Infectious Diseases publicly provided the Recommendations for Prevention and Control of Influenza in Children, 2026–2027: Policy Statement ahead of publication in the journal Pediatrics.
AAP continues to recommend annual flu vaccination for all children age 6 months and older for the 2026-27 respiratory season who have no medical contraindication. Any age-appropriate flu vaccine may be used. The number of recommended doses is unchanged this season and depends on the child's age and flu vaccination history. Unlike adults, who should generally avoid early vaccination in July and August, children may be vaccinated as soon as the vaccine becomes available, ideally by the end of October. This season, AAP added detailed guidance for immunocompromised children, aligning its recommendations with evidence-based guidance from other medical organizations.

Once your initial respiratory product orders have been made, try to place orders on your clinic's assigned ordering schedule (either the 1st-15th of the month or 16th-end of the month) whenever possible. This helps to balance order volume so we can process orders efficiently and distribute vaccine as equitably as possible within allocation limits.
