WAIIS Access for Maternal RSV Vaccine Records
To protect young babies from respiratory syncytial virus (RSV), pregnant people are recommended to get a one-time single dose of maternal RSV vaccine during weeks 32 through 36 of pregnancy. Pfizer’s RSV vaccine, Abrysvo, is currently the only approved vaccine for use during pregnancy to prevent severe RSV disease in infants.
A single dose of RSV monoclonal antibody (nirsevimab or clesrovimab) should be administered to all infants <8 months of age born during or entering their first RSV season from October through March. Nirsevimab only is recommended for babies 8-19 months at high risk entering their second RSV season. For most babies whose mothers received Abrysvo at least 14 days before the baby is born, RSV immunization is not indicated.
A provider may need to review vaccine records of the birth parent to verify if and when Abrysvo was administered during pregnancy. The WAIIS can be utilized by authorized participating providers to look up this maternal data for the purpose of making direct health care decisions for their infant patient.

ISA Renewals
The DOH provider enrollment team is working to renew the Information Sharing Agreements (ISAs) for organizations participating in the WAIIS. Please check your records to ensure your ISAs are up to date as these agreements expire every 3 years. You may lose connectivity to the IIS if no response is received during our review and cleanup of IIS data.
If you are not up to date, click here to renew your agreement or contact pchoiisa@doh.wa.gov for any additional questions.

Updating Vaccination Records in the WAIIS
You can only edit or delete vaccination records entered by your organization. All fields on the vaccination detail screen can be edited except for the Vaccine and Date Administered. To update the administration date or vaccine, you must delete the record and re-enter it with the correct information.
|
Manual Entry:
Users manually entering data into the IIS can find more about the process of adding, editing, and deleting vaccination records in our reference guide on our IIS Training Materials Portal.
Electronic Data Exchange:
Users with an interface connection (electronic bridge between their electronic health record and the IIS) often have functionality in their EHR to send update and delete messages electronically. If you’re unsure whether your EHR can send update or delete messages, check with your technical team or EHR vendor. If your EHR does not support update or delete messages, you must manually update the record in both your EHR and the IIS.
To correct the administration date or vaccine, you must first send a delete message followed by an update message with the corrected information. The IIS is processing large numbers of messages all the time but not always in the order received. We recommend allowing a few minutes between sending the delete and update messages to ensure the messages are processed in the correct order.
If you have questions about updating vaccination records in the IIS, please contact the IIS Training Team at IIS.Training@doh.wa.gov .
