Vaccine Planning: Short-Dated COVID-19 Vaccines for 2025-2026

Please note that the shelf life of the COVID-19 vaccine that is being sent to providers is shorter than it was at the start of the season and will continue to decrease as we near the end of the season.

To effectively manage this reduction in shelf life, the CDC recommends that providers order smaller quantities of the vaccine - enough for 3 to 4 weeks of usage - and place more frequent orders if necessary. Before placing an order, always check the Vaccine Advertisements for an available transfer in your area.

2025-2026 Respiratory Immunization Season Feedback Opportunity

Dear Partners,

Thank you for your continued partnership and efforts during the 2025–2026 respiratory immunization season. We recognize the significant work many of you undertook to support communities, patients, and partners throughout a complex season.

The Office of Immunization is conducting a partner feedback process to learn from this past season and help improve planning and operations for the 2026–2027 respiratory immunization season. We are inviting you to complete a brief survey to share your experiences, challenges, and ideas for improvement.

Purpose

We are seeking candid feedback to better understand what worked well, what barriers were experienced, and what changes could strengthen future respiratory season planning and support.

Topics may include:

  • Ordering processes and supply challenges
  • RSV monoclonal antibody distribution and related impacts
  • Communication, guidance, and timing of information
  • Funding, cost, and operational considerations
  • Coordination and partner support needs
  • Tools, resources, or system improvements for future seasons

Complete the Survey

Survey Deadline: May 31, 2026

You are welcome to participate in both the listening session and survey.

Accessibility / Language Support

If you need language interpretation, accessibility accommodations, or other supports to participate, please let us know as soon as possible by filling out this form and we will do our best to assist.

Continuing Education Credits Temporarily Paused for Pharmacists and Pharmacy Technicians

Continuing education credits for the CVP Vaccine Coordinator Training will be temporarily unavailable for pharmacists and pharmacy technicians during June and July while we close out the state fiscal year.

Continuing education credits for Module 10: Evaluation and Final Assessment will be reactivated in August, and availability will be announced through the Vaccine Blurbs. To receive continuing education credit after May 31, 2026, participants will need to take the assessment when Module 10 is reactivated.

Thanks for your understanding.

WVA 2026-27 Vaccine Assessment Grid Now Available

On April 23, 2026, the Washington Vaccine Association’s (WVA) Board of Directors approved the 2026-27 Vaccine Assessment Grid (“Grid”), which was finalized by the WVA’s Operations Committee on April 30, 2026. The 2026-27 Grid will be in effect between July 1, 2026 through June 30, 2027, and was posted to the WVA’s website on May 1, 2026, in both PDF and Excel format. CVP providers are required to update their billing system.

The Grid lists vaccines and immunizations, along with their CPT codes, that are included in Childhood Vaccination Program (CVP) and for which the dosage-based assessment (DBA) process is required. This applies to healthcare providers, insurance companies, and third-party administrators (TPAs). The Grid acts like a fee schedule. Providers are required to submit the DBA with the correct Grid amount based upon date of service when CVP supplied vaccines are administered to patients with private/commercial insurance. Properly submitted DBAs ensure that adequate funds are available to support the state’s continued purchase of pediatric vaccines and immunizations for Washington children under age 19.

For more information on the billing process, please review the WVA Provider Billing Guide. Should you have any questions, please contact us at compliance@wavaccine.org.
