New Vaccine Loss Survey Launches This Week - Learn More at 4/23 CVP Training Series

Beginning this week, the Childhood and Adult Vaccine Programs will transition to processing the NEW Vaccine Loss Survey (VLS) in REDCap to improve efficiency.

The VLS will replace the paper format of the Vaccine Loss Log, which is currently submitted via email. Moving forward, if you report a monthly vaccine loss of $2500 or more in the WAIIS, you’ll receive a REDCap survey link from us by email.

Please review the important dates below outlining steps in the transition to the new process:

  • The first Vaccine Loss Surveys will be sent to providers with $2500+ in monthly vaccine loss on Wednesday, April 22.
  • The April CVP Training Series: Process Update, NEW Vaccine Loss Survey will follow on Thursday, April 23 at noon, to support providers with this transition.
  • After the initial launch, providers with $2500+ in monthly vaccine loss will get Vaccine Loss Surveys on the first Wednesday of each month, beginning on May 6.

Important: Continue to post the Vaccine Loss Log near your storage units to track monthly waste, and retain these forms for three years. Submitting the log by email is no longer required.

New Vaccine Recommendations Webpage Now Available

The Washington State Department of Health (DOH) has launched a new Vaccine Recommendations webpage in response to House Bill 2242 (PDF). The page provides current state immunization recommendations and related guidance for health care providers and local health jurisdictions.

It includes PDF schedules for childhood and adolescent and adult immunizations, along with answers to frequently asked questions. Recommendations are based on evidence from leading medical and public health organizations and outline who should receive vaccines, when, and under what conditions.

Providers and partners can access the new webpage to review current guidance and stay up to date on recommendations.

All vaccines recommended by DOH remain available at no cost for children under age 19 through Washington’s Childhood Vaccine Program (CVP) at participating providers. Uninsured adults ages 19 and older can receive recommended vaccines at no cost through the Adult Vaccine Program (AVP).

For additional information, visit the Immunizations and Vaccines page. For questions about Washington’s immunization recommendations, contact OI@doh.wa.gov.

End of RSV Season - April 30

The Washington State Department of Health (DOH) extended the RSV monoclonal antibody administration period for infants through April 30, 2026, due to a delayed and prolonged RSV season with continued elevated activity statewide. Providers should end the administration of RSV monoclonal antibodies (nirsevimab or clesrovimab) on April 30. For questions about RSV immunization product ordering or dose transfers, contact us at WAChildhoodVaccines@doh.wa.gov.

An infant born at the end of the RSV season and who received one dose of nirsevimab or clesrovimab and are still younger than 8 months of age their second RSV season, but don’t meet the high-risk criteria, will not need to get a monoclonal antibody in the fall. Also, children younger than 8 months of age born near the end of the previous RSV season to mothers who received Abrysvo RSV vaccine during pregnancy are NOT recommended to receive an RSV preventive antibody product at the beginning of the next season.

  • Notify: IMMEDIATELY report all suspected cases of measles to your Local Health Jurisdiction.
  • Test & Manage: Understand how to test for measles and how to manage cases in your facility.
