Dear Childhood Vaccine Program Providers and Immunization Partners,
The Washington State Department of Health (DOH) is writing to reaffirm guidance for providers participating in the Childhood Vaccine Program (CVP).
CVP providers should follow the 2026 American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) Recommended Child and Adolescent Vaccine Schedule for all children. This schedule is endorsed by the West Coast Health Alliance and DOH and reflects the current evidence-based standard of care for pediatric immunization.
There are no changes to the childhood immunization schedule in Washington state. Insurance coverage and school immunization requirements also remain unchanged. The science has not changed, and Washington’s recommendations remain grounded in the best available evidence.
The 2026 AAP schedule was developed following a thorough review of medical evidence and continues to reflect decades of research demonstrating that vaccines are safe, effective, and lifesaving. CVP providers are expected to use this schedule to guide clinical practice and conversations with families.
All immunizations recommended by the AAP remain available at no cost to children younger than 19 years of age through Washington’s universal Childhood Vaccine Program at participating provider sites. Families should not experience any changes in vaccine access or coverage due to recent federal policy developments.
We appreciate your continued partnership in protecting children and communities across Washington. If you have questions, please contact the Childhood Vaccine Program at WAChildhoodVaccines@doh.wa.gov.
