Polio Dose Conversions
Updates to the WAIIS forecasting tool took place on February 26, 2025. Because of this change, DOH is periodically making conversions to vaccine records in the WAIIS to account for the 04/01/2016 removal of poliovirus type 2 in OPV. Until the forecaster is updated to invalidate doses based on the date given, the following vaccine types will be modified:

We continue to see polio vaccine records with an administration date on or after 04/01/2016 documented in the WAIIS as ‘Polio, unspecified formulation’. Please use the Polio Vaccine Documentation Quick Reference Guide (PDF) to determine which vaccine type to record.
Questions about these changes can be directed to ImmuneNurses@doh.wa.gov.

ISA Renewals
The DOH provider enrollment team is working to renew the Information Sharing Agreements (ISAs) for organizations participating in the WAIIS. Please check your records to ensure your ISAs are up to date as these agreements expire every 3 years. You may lose connectivity to the IIS if no response is received during our review and cleanup of IIS data.
If you are not up to date, click here to renew your agreement or contact pchoiisa@doh.wa.gov for any additional questions.

IIS Data Quality Tip of the Month
Do you manage vaccine inventory in the WAIIS? The Lot Usage and Recall Report can be a helpful tool to assist with troubleshooting inventory discrepancies. This report can also be used to document compromised vaccines on all patient records that received recalled or compromised lots.
