Single Sign-On (SSO) is now LIVE!

WAIIS implemented a Single Sign-On process on August 23, 2025.

ALL IIS USERS WILL NEED TO FOLLOW THE LINKING PROCESS OUTLINED IN THE SINGLE SIGN-ON (SSO) FOR WA IIS USERS guide to create an initial link between your Secure Access WA (SAW) account and your WA IIS account. You can also view our instructional video if you need further assistance.

The WA IIS Training Team will be hosting several virtual help sessions to assist users with the new Single Sign-On (SSO) process. You can also request help here or email us at WAIISHelpDesk@doh.wa.gov or IIS.Training@doh.wa.gov.

WA DOH Publishes COVID-19 Vaccine Standing Order

The Washington Department of Health (DOH) has published the WA COVID-19 Vaccine Standing Order. The standing order authorizes qualified health care providers to administer the most updated versions of COVID-19 vaccine to all persons 6 months and older, including pregnant individuals. It is intended for individuals to receive COVID-19 vaccine “off label” when guidance differs from federal guidance. The standing order references guidance from national medical organizations:

Pediatrics (ages 6 months–18 years): American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP)
Pregnant Individuals (all ages as applicable): American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG)
Adults (ages 19 years and older): American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP)

Returning 2024-25 COVID-19 Vaccine

To minimize the risk of vaccine administration errors, providers should:

Immediately remove all 2024-2025 COVID-19 vaccines from storage units, even if not yet expired
Reconcile inventory of 2024-2024 COVID-19 vaccines in the IIS using the category "Spoiled" and reason "Expired BUD"
After reconciling inventory, complete the Vaccine Return process to get a return label
- Remember to submit the return before inactivating the vaccine in the IIS

RSV Doses Expiring Soon

Clinics that own patients in the IIS can run Reminder/Recall in the IIS with the parameters below to help identify patients under 9 months who have not received nirsevimab:

For all patients you own
Due date Timeframe: Due in 1 month or Less
Patient Location: Should be set at the facility level
Patient Age Range: 1 day to 9 months
Series: RSV 1 DOSE

If you need further assistance with running Reminder/Recall, please reach out to ImmunizeWA@doh.wa.gov or IIS.training@doh.wa.gov.

If you have 50mg product of nirsevimab with an expiration date of 10/31/2025 in your inventory and will not be using it, please advertise those doses in the IIS. We will be using those advertisements to transfer doses to hospitals and larger facilities for use before expiration.

In addition, there are 100mg nirsevimab doses expiring November 30, 2025. Any provider who cannot use their existing inventory before expiry, should also advertise those doses for transfer.

As a reminder, do not attempt to return or discard RSV products currently in your inventory that have not yet expired. These doses are still viable and can be used until their expiration date.

MyIR Posters and Flyers

MyIR posters and flyers are now available to order, and shipping is free for a limited time. Orders are limited to 10 posters and/or 100 flyers. The turnaround time for orders is around 3 weeks, so make sure to put your request in soon to have it in time for back-to-school.

ISA Renewals

The DOH provider enrollment team is working to renew the Information Sharing Agreements (ISAs) for organizations participating in the WAIIS. Please check your records to ensure your ISAs are up to date as these agreements expire every 3 years. You may lose connectivity to the IIS if no response is received during our review and cleanup of IIS data.

IIS Data Quality Tip of the Month

Warnings and errors can occur when immunization data (HL7 messages) are sent from an electronic health record (EHR) system to the IIS have missing or incorrect data. A Provider Detail Error Report is sent from the IIS to a designated contact for each connection/provider to monitor warnings and errors.

Error- the data sent is not accepted into the IIS and will not be displayed on patient records.

Warning- the IIS accepts the data, but data may be missing or invalid.

Two commonly seen issues for August:

Error - patient first or last name is invalid

Patient (and Guardian) names can only contain these characters: A-Z, a-z, single quote, dash, period and space. Names must be 48 characters or less.

Warning - vaccination lot is invalid

All administered vaccines must include a lot number. The lot number sent from an EHR must match an active lot number in the documenting facility’s IIS inventory. For clinics that manage inventory in the IIS, this warning can cause decrementing issues.
