 Hello Adult Vaccine Program Partners,
Our next AVP vaccine request opportunity for non-COVID/non-flu vaccines will open next week and will remain open for ~3 weeks. We will send out an additional newsletter to notify providers that ordering has officially opened.
AVP vaccine requests take place in the IIS. Each facility will have an order set available in the IIS containing the 5 vaccine types prioritized on their AVP provider agreement. This is a vaccine request, not an order, and requests may be reduced to stay within the AVP’s available budget. If you do not have familiarity with placing a vaccine request or receiving vaccines in the IIS, you can review this AVP Vaccine Ordering and Receiving Guide for step by step instructions.
In order to receive an allocation of AVP vaccine, your facility’s provider agreement and accountability must be current. This includes:
- The approval of your facility's 2025-2026 AVP Provider Agreement in Redcap with submission before the stated deadline.
- The submission of up-to-date inventory within the last 30 days in the IIS. This document, starting on page 3, will walk you through this process.
- Temperature log submission in Redcap, including any outstanding items. If you need assistance with Redcap, you can review this Step-by-Step Guide around navigating temperature log submission in Redcap.
The next AVP order request opportunity for these vaccine types will be in March, so you may request a 6-month supply of vaccine during this request window. When placing your request, please keep in mind that AVP vaccines are a limited resource in high demand. Waste should be kept below 5%, so please order intentionally with regards to what your facility can administer and carefully consider the amount you request.
AVP vaccines can only be administered to uninsured adults 19+ years of age. Please keep in mind that Medicare/ Medicaid are considered insurance and thus individuals with these plans do not qualify for AVP.
We will send out additional communications around the ordering process for AVP COVID-19 and flu vaccine in the coming weeks. These vaccine types will be in separate AVP order sets, which are not yet available.
If you have any questions, please reach out to us at WAAdultVaccines@doh.wa.gov.
Thank you for all that you do!
In anticipation of an updated COVID-19 vaccine formulation coming in late August-September, we have turned off ordering in the IIS on 7/31. This is consistent with ordering practices for other respiratory products. Ordering of the current COVID-19 vaccine is also being restricted to prevent further waste. According to IIS data, there are an estimated 1,000 doses of AVP COVID-19 vaccine in provider inventories across the state.
Please do not waste doses you currently have in your inventory that have not expired or reached their beyond use date. We will not process these returns. We ask that any doses of COVID-19 vaccine be advertised for transfer on the Vaccine Advertisements page of the IIS. Providers who are in need of COVID-19 vaccine should check Vaccine Advertisements for available vaccine transfers in the community. Please contact us if you need assistance.
The Vaccine Advertisement function allows you to post vaccines that your clinic may not be able to use for transfer to other Adult Vaccine Program providers. You can also find doses your clinic may be able to use. This is a simple and easy way to advertise or locate available vaccines when your facility is in need or has a surplus of vaccine.
For more details, please see our guide on How to Search for and Advertise Vaccines for Transfer.
Please note, you will still need approval prior to transferring vaccine. Review the vaccine transfer checklist and FAQs for additional information and guidelines for transferring vaccines.
Beginning August 15, 2025, temperature logs will be required following all off-site clinics as outlined in the Off-Site Vaccination Clinic Guidelines. Off-Site clinic temperature logs must be submitted to WAAdultvaccines@doh.wa.gov after your event. This new requirement helps ensure that vaccines are transported and stored at in-range temperatures during off-site events. Thanks for your cooperation.
