COVID-19 Vaccine Ordering Turning Off July 31st

In anticipation of an updated COVID-19 vaccine formulation coming late August-September, we will be turning off ordering in the IIS on 7/31. This is consistent with ordering practices for other respiratory products. Ordering of the current COVID-19 vaccine is also being restricted to prevent further waste. According to IIS data, there are an estimated 11,000 doses of COVID-19 vaccine in provider inventories across the state. Those doses account for approximately $1 million in waste if not used.

Please do not waste doses you currently have in your inventory that have not expired or reached their beyond use date. We will not process these returns. We ask that any doses of COVID-19 vaccine be advertised for transfer on the Vaccine Advertisements page of the IIS. Providers who are in need of COVID-19 vaccine should check Vaccine Advertisements for available vaccine transfers in the community.  Please contact us if you need assistance.

The Vaccine Advertisement function allows you to post vaccines that your clinic may not be able to use for transfer to other Childhood Vaccine Program providers. You can also find doses your clinic may be able to use. This is a simple and easy way to advertise or locate available vaccines when your facility is in need or has a surplus of vaccine.

For more details, please see our guide on How to Search for and Advertise Vaccines for Transfer

Please note, you will still need approval prior to transferring vaccine. Review the vaccine transfer checklist and FAQs for additional information and guidelines for transferring vaccines.

2025-26 WVA Vaccine Grid Assessment Now in Effect

The 2025-26 Vaccine Assessment Grid is now in effect through June 30, 2026.

As a reminder, the Grid lists vaccines and immunizations, along with their CPT codes, that are included in Childhood Vaccination Program (CVP) and for which the dosage-based assessment (DBA) process is required. This applies to healthcare providers, insurance companies, and third-party administrators (TPAs). The Grid acts like a fee schedule. Providers are required to submit the DBA with the correct Grid amount based upon date of service when patients have commercial insurance coverage. Properly submitted DBAs ensure that adequate funds are available to support the state’s continued purchase of pediatric vaccines and immunizations for Washington children under age 19.

The Grid is posted to the WVA’s website in both PDF and Excel format. For more information on the billing process, please review the Provider Billing Guide. Should you have any other questions for the WVA, please contact us at info@wavaccine.org.

World Hepatitis Day on July 28

World Hepatitis Day

Each year, more than a million people lose their lives to hepatitis – and the number of deaths is rising. We have fast and accurate tests, effective and affordable treatments, and a proven vaccine that could prevent 95% of newborns from getting hepatitis B. However, there is lack of awareness, misinformation, myths and stigma that are stopping people from accessing hepatitis services. The goal of World Hepatitis Day is to share the facts.

  • Hepatitis is the world’s deadliest virus, after COVID-19.
  • There are over 2 million new cases of hepatitis every year.
  • More than 300 million people are living with hepatitis.
  • Hepatitis is the leading cause of liver cancer.

World Hepatitis Alliance has many resources in multiple languages, including posters and social media graphics that can be shared with patients. In addition, CDC’s Viral Hepatitis webpage offers current testing, vaccination, and treatment resources. Hepatitis A and hepatitis B vaccination posters are also available and can be downloaded to hang up in your clinic.

While they share the same acronym, your debit card's PIN and your CVP PIN are not the same! You should never share your debit card PIN but you should include your CVP PIN on all correspondence with the program. That includes emails, temperature logs, vaccine loss logs, and pretty much everything you submit to the program. Help us help you!
