Let’s face it, the last few months have been exhausting. With shrinking resources and growing demands in the face of federal disinvestment, state budget cuts and policy uncertainty, many of you are being asked to do more with less. We know that meaningful progress is only possible when Community Based Organizations are respected, valued, supported and funded as leaders in advancing health and equity. Our commitment is to foster collaboration, break down siloes and share information in ways that help you stay connected and supported.

Health & Human Services (HHS) Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. announced changes to the recommendations for COVID-19 vaccines for healthy pregnant women and healthy children. CDC has since updated immunization schedules.
The COVID-19 virus continues to pose serious health risks in Washington, including hospitalizations, long COVID, and preventable deaths, particularly among pregnant people and young children, people with chronic conditions, and those who remain unvaccinated. Providers should continue to offer and administer COVID-19 vaccines to all patients 6 months and older who are eligible to receive one.
DOH is monitoring these events and will keep partners informed of any changes to our own guidance and recommendations. Please feel free to email the Childhood Vaccine Program at WAChildhoodVaccines@doh.wa.gov or the Adult Vaccine Program at WAAdultVaccines@doh.wa.gov with questions.
