Good morning AVP partners,
This order cycle we received a very large number of vaccine requests for our Adult Vaccine Program. Vaccine requests totaled well over $1,500,000, compared to our budget of $515,000. We created allocations and reduced orders to meet our budget.
Orders have been placed and providers will receive their orders in one shipment in early April (barring any unexpected delays). You can see your facility’s updated order quantity for each vaccine type in the IIS as well as the shipping status and tracking number.
Please remember that when your order arrives, you must also receive the doses into your inventory in the IIS. Refer to page 5 of this document for instructions on how to do this. You will notice that all vaccines received through the AVP will have the ADU- modifier added to the lot number, so you will no longer need to take the step to add it manually. Do not remove the ADU- modifier from the vaccine lot number.
Please remember to utilize the Vaccine Advertisement Page in the IIS to advertise any AVP vaccine that your facility is unable to use, or to search for additional AVP vaccine that you need.
Thank you for your participation in the Adult Vaccine Program! We very much appreciate all that you do!
When you receive a vaccine delivery it’s important to make sure that vaccines are placed in the correct storage unit. Immunize.org has updated a popular vaccine storage resource, the Vaccine Storage Quick Reference. This guide shows the appropriate storage temperatures for vaccines approved or authorized for routine use in the United States. We highly recommend placing a copy on each vaccine storage unit to prevent storage mistakes. For additional information on storage of COVID-19 vaccines, you can also refer to the DOH State Supplied COVID-19 Vaccines At-a-Glance.
If you have a concern about the condition of any vaccine upon arrival or while it is in storage, take action and follow the Temperature Excursion Guide or contact us at waadultvaccines@doh.wa.gov for assistance. Remember, improperly stored or outdated vaccines won’t protect your patients!
The Office of Immunization has released a measles communications toolkit for our partners across the state. This toolkit will help address misinformation, promote confidence in vaccines, and drive effective health promotion and education with consistent messaging.
It's more important than ever to share resources that can help us work together to prevent measles outbreaks and protect public health.
The PDF toolkit is linked on the DOH website.

The Washington State Department of Health’s Power of Providers (POP) initiative invites you to participate in an upcoming webinar series focused on mental health support for health care professionals. The series continues with Health for Health Care Professionals: Promoting and Participating in Healthy Teams and features prominent Washington clinician and psychologist, Dr. Kira Mauseth. This is part two of the series. Please visit POP's webinar page to view the recording of the previous session. The webinar will be on Wednesday, April 9, from noon to 1:00 p.m.
Building from the previous workshop, this session will focus on characteristics of well-functioning health care teams. As health care professionals we are frequently presented with patients, colleagues, or friends and family members who are in crisis and in need of support. This workshop provides participants with basic knowledge about how to support behavioral health for yourself and others. These skills can influence healthy team growth and culture change in a direction that is consistent with a larger mission. Participants will learn strategies on how to best help others while also being mindful of and compassionate towards themselves and their own wellness. This will also include crisis management and de-escalation skills to help effectively engage with colleagues who are struggling, communication tips, and development of core values to inform difficult decision making and address challenging issues.
The learning objectives for this webinar are to:
- Identify opportunities to engage in crisis support and healthy communication with other team members.
- Develop understanding and familiarity with collegial supportive best practices.
- Identify and use core values to inform responses and behaviors.
The webinar will be recorded and there will be live ASL interpretation. We are offering free continuing education for nurses and medical assistants. Please see the details below.
