Hello Adult Vaccine Program Partners,
Our next AVP vaccine request opportunity for non-COVID/non-flu vaccines will open next week on February 4th and will remain open for 3 weeks until February 25th. Approved orders will be placed in March.
We will send out an additional newsletter to notify providers when ordering has officially opened.
AVP vaccine requests take place in the IIS. Each facility will have an order set available in the IIS containing the vaccine types prioritized on their AVP provider agreement. This is a vaccine request, not an order, and requests may be reduced to stay within the AVP’s available budget. If you do not have familiarity with placing a vaccine request or receiving vaccines in the IIS, you can review this AVP Vaccine Ordering and Receiving Guide for step by step instructions.
In order to receive an allocation of AVP vaccine, your facility’s provider agreement and accountability must be current. This includes the submission of up-to-date inventory in the IIS, and temperature log submission in Redcap, including any outstanding items. If you need assistance with Redcap, you can review this Step-by-Step Guide around navigating the Provider Portal in RedCAP.
The next AVP order request opportunity for these vaccine types will be in August, so you may request a 6-month supply of vaccine during this request window. When placing your request, please keep in mind that AVP vaccines are a limited resource in high demand. Waste should be kept below 5%, so please order intentionally with regards to what your facility can administer.
These AVP vaccines can only be administered to uninsured adults 19+ years of age. Please keep in mind that Medicare/ Medicaid are considered insurance and thus individuals with these plans do not qualify for AVP.
If you have any questions, please reach out to us at WAAdultVaccines@doh.wa.gov.
Thank you for all that you do!
The recording of the January 9th CVP Training Series: Vaccine Coordinator Training Overview is now available. The slides from that training are also available for reference. You can find this training and other past trainings, as well as announcements for future training opportunities, on the CVP Training webpage.
We anticipate that the AVP training series on Train.org will be available in early February. We will send out an additional email when the series is open for AVP providers.

You can order these materials by emailing immunematerials@doh.wa.gov or visiting our immunization forms and publications web page.
During a recent Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) meeting, the team reviewed and discussed changes to the recommendations for the use of pneumococcal vaccine (PCV) in adults 50 years and older. They voted on recommending PCV vaccine for everyone 50 and up who has not already received a dose. More information on this topic can be found at the following links:
