Dear COVID-19 investigators and data users,
After gathering feedback via survey and at recent engagement calls, WA DOH would like to proceed with moving historical COVID-19 cases out of WDRS to improve system performance.
We plan to move completed, reconciled, and closed COVID-19 cases from at least 2 years prior out of the WDRS Production environment and into a separate read-only database accessible to internal and external system users. At present, this entails moving 2020 and 2021 COVID-19 cases and their associated lab data out of WDRS Production. Person information will remain in WDRS Production.
This read-only historical database will house denormalized tables required for performing COVID-19 work. At present, the following tables are on a list to populate in the new database:
- GCD_COVID_19_FLATTENED
- GCD_COVID19_LAB
- GCD_COVID19_SEQUENCING
- ELR_DD_PATIENT_ETHNICITY
Before proceeding with changes, we’d like to understand any concerns with or needs that are not addressed with this plan.
Please email lindsay.horn@doh.wa.gov by September 30th if:
- You have any questions, concerns or dependencies (e.g. updating code) before this change is implemented, this includes any additional denormalized tables not listed above that are required to perform your COVID-19 work.
OR
- You require access to the historical database, so that we can ensure connectivity before moving data.
Once all feedback is received, we will share a tentative timeline for implementing the change and work with those needing access to the new database.
Sincerely,
WDRS Team
